ZIP code 39595 serves the former Naval Station Pascagoula on Singing River Island in Jackson County, Mississippi. The station was established in 1992 as part of the U.S. Navy's Strategic Homeporting program, with Secretary of the Navy John Lehman selecting the site in 1985. The base served as homeport for Perry-class guided missile frigates and later Ticonderoga-class cruisers. During its 14-year operational period, nine ships and more than 15 tenant commands called the station home. The base closed on November 15, 2006, under the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) process. This unique postal designation has remained active for over two decades.
The 2020 Census counted 92 residents with a median age of 26.4 years. All 92 residents live in non-institutional group quarters with zero private housing units, a pattern consistent with a military barracks environment. The absence of Census Business Patterns data reflects the facility's transition following base closure. Pascagoula is the valid mailing city for this designation. The property, located at the mouth of the Pascagoula River in the Mississippi Sound, was transferred to the Mississippi Secretary of State's office in July 2007.
