FPO AE 09524 serves USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75), the eighth Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier in the United States Navy. Homeported at Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia, the carrier was commissioned on July 25, 1998. Named after the 33rd President of the United States, who served as an artillery captain in World War I and later made the consequential decision to use atomic weapons to end World War II, the ship carries the motto 'The Buck Stops Here'.
USS Harry S. Truman regularly deploys as the centerpiece of Carrier Strike Group 8, operating in the Mediterranean Sea, Persian Gulf, and other areas of strategic importance. The carrier can accommodate approximately 90 aircraft and has a crew of around 5,000 sailors when the air wing is embarked. CVN 75 has participated in numerous combat operations including Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and various operations supporting the campaign against ISIS.
Mail for personnel aboard CVN 75 routes through the Newark International Service Center. When addressing mail, use the format: Rank and Name, Division, USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75), Unit 100255 Box number, FPO AE 09524. Delivery times vary based on operational status, typically 7-10 days when in port at Norfolk and 2-4 weeks during deployment depending on resupply schedules.
