How far apart two places are, the drive, the time difference, and the two compared side by side.
The straight-line distance in miles and kilometers, the drive with its time, and the compass direction from one place to the other.
Today and when the clocks change, from each place's own rules, so Arizona, Saskatchewan and the Navajo Nation come out right.
County, metro area, area codes, then income, home values, rent, age and commutes from the Census Bureau, with a difference named only when it is real.
Both places, the straight line and the drive on one map, with turn-by-turn directions, ready to print or save as a picture.

Flagstaff (86001) to Tuba City (86045) is about 59 miles northeast, in the same state.
Arizona doesn't observe daylight saving time, but the Navajo Nation, which includes Tuba City, does. So from March to November Tuba City is an hour ahead of Flagstaff, and in winter their clocks match.
See this comparisonBoth. The straight line runs between the centers of the two ZIP Codes along the curve of the earth, “as the crow flies,” in miles and kilometers. The drive comes from road routing without live traffic, so it shows the usual route and time rather than today's. The drive is almost always longer, and much longer where roads have to go around mountains, lakes or rivers. For an exact point instead of a ZIP Code's center, enter a latitude and longitude.
A ZIP Code is an area, so one distance needs one point to stand for it, and the center is that point. In a small city ZIP Code, the center is close to every address in it. In a large rural ZIP Code, it can be many miles from a given house, so the distance between two rural ZIP Codes is a good estimate, not a door-to-door figure. If you need two exact points, enter their latitudes and longitudes.
From each place's own time zone rules, for today and for after the next clock change. Most of the U.S. and Canada change their clocks on the same days, but not everywhere: Arizona stays on standard time except the Navajo Nation, Hawaii doesn't change, and most of Saskatchewan stays on Central Standard Time all year. That is why two places in the same state can be an hour apart for part of the year, as Flagstaff and Tuba City are.
Each U.S. ZIP Code is compared with the Census Bureau's American Community Survey, the five-year estimates for 2020–2024. Every figure is an estimate with a margin of error, and small ZIP Codes have wide margins, so we name a difference only when the gap is bigger than the margins of error allow. For example, the median age is 39.4 (±1.7) in New York's 10014 and 36.9 (±5.5) in Boston's 02108. They are 2.5 years apart, but that is well inside Boston's margin, so the comparison says “No clear difference.”
Yes. Enter a Canadian postal code (like V6B 1A1) or FSA (like V6B) on either side, and you get the straight line, the drive, the direction and the time difference. Seattle 98101 to Vancouver V6B 1A1, for example, is about 121 miles north, with the same time all year. The Census comparison covers U.S. ZIP Codes only, so a Canadian place shows its city and time zone but no income or housing figures.
Yes, with the ZIP Codes API. One call to its distance endpoint returns the distance between two places, and paid plans can send 100 pairs in a single call. A free key includes 2,500 credits a day. You can also connect Claude, ChatGPT or another AI assistant to our MCP server and ask in plain English, like “How far is 37203 from 90210?” The site itself has usage limits, so a long list belongs in the API.
ZIP Codes and Canadian postal codes are updated every month, so a new or retired code shows up here soon after the change. The Census figures in the comparison are the latest five-year American Community Survey estimates. Each ZIP Code's own page has more years, if you want to see how a place has changed.
